Brenda Kamuda Celebration of Support Fund

Dear Friends, Family, and Sponsors;

Thursday, February 5, 2009 changed our lives forever.  Brenda(Mom) had been suffering from what we thought was a sinus infection for several weeks.  She kept describing pain a "pressure" and even told us it felt like she had a tumor.  Having suffered from sinus infection before, she felt that was what it was and continued to treat it as such.

As a self-employed licensed daycare provider, it was very difficult for her to take a day off to attend doctor appointments.  She is single and she is responsible for maintaining her own home which is also used for her business.  During these weeks, she continued to maintain the snow removal and keep the daycare open.  After having her sister operate the daycare one day so she could rest, she still did not feel better.

It was that day February 5, 2009 that we took her to the emergency room.  We were told there was a mass in the right frontal lobe of her brain.  She had surgery on February 10th to remove the mass.  She has completed 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.  She will continue a chemotherapy treatment plan of 5 days on and 28 days off for the remainder of the year.

During all of Brenda has had to close her business.  The health insurance she was covered under terminated on March 20th.  We thought she had been researching other options but, because of the nature of her disease, she was having difficulty making decisions and had not completed any applications.  We were in a mad rush to find coverage and found it through the high risk pool of Wisconsin.  After 2 surgeries and 6 weeks of radiation and chemo treatments she has approximately $10,000.00 of medical bills and $120.00 a month in prescriptions, with even more to come.  her business remains closed and will for some time as Brenda is unable to work during her treatment.  At age 51, this is not when Brenda had planned on retiring.

We are asking for your help to raise money for medical and living expenses.  At this time Brenda is not physically able to attend a benefit in her honor so we are asking donations to be sent to Community Benefit Tree Inc., (CBT) a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that we are grateful to be working with.

Please make checks payable to Community Benefit Tree and send them to:
